We've been on the move since landing in Auckland. With a quick overnight there, we headed south to the middle of the north island to do the famous Tongariro Crossing. It was an incredible, clear day walking through spectacular terrain. This is an active volcano area full of warnings!
Then we took the train to Wellington. Both train trips took us through green pasture lands and off the highway route for viewing lovely scenery.
Wellington is a bit windy and chilly today but we spent most of the day just walking the waterfront, seeing the botanical garden and checking out the city. We are here for a week so no rush. Our Airbnb lodging is in an old Victorian house near Parliament. What a deal! We have a huge 2 room suite and full run of the house for about $60 a night.
Look again in a couple of days when I'll have some pictures downloaded.
